Metformin: sucks sugar out of bloodstream into liver, muscle and fat; good for your heart.

Gliclazide: kicks your pancreas to make more insulin; therefore, watch out for hypos.

Gliptin: blocks DPP4, allow incretins to work

GLP1s: mimic the action of incretins.

Gliflozin: makes you pee out excess sugar.

Pioglitazone: makes cells more sensitive to insulin

Insulin: weight gain common.

Incretins produced in the gut on eating; ​stimulate insulin, delay gastric emptying, and increase satiety

1st line is metformin or metformin plus gliflozins (if cv risk high for dual theory)

2nd line
​
met's mates - gliclazide, gliptin (sitagliptin), gliflozin
use because you choose - insulin, pio, glp1 (exatanide, mountjaro)
